FootballGuys.com (FBG), https://footballguys.com/, has an online fantasy football draft application that can be used to help fantasy football aficionados draft a winning team for their upcoming fantasy season. This application is called Draft Dominator (DD), found here https://www.footballguys.com/draft-dominator, and it appears to have a lot of things going right for it to make it a top choice in fantasy football draft apps. I will discuss some of the Pros and Cons that I see with the app and try to give you our overall impression of it.
The Pros for DD are many. The single most important plus is the way it will automatically bring in your league settings and scoring values from 12 different league hosting sites. They also allow for you to attempt to create a link by entering the hosting site directly if it is not one of the sites they have partnered with. This allows users to ensure that all their scoring values are included automatically, and the FBG proprietary draft rankings are applied to your specific league settings.
Another huge Pro for the DD app is that they use a value-based method for determining who you should draft next. There are settings that you can use to modify if this is automatic, or if you want to change percentages on Value Based Drafting, Position Need of your Roster, or Position Drop-offs to your Next Pick. This will allow you to modify your Ranking Profiles to better suit your needs. However, just leaving this in the auto mode seems to give very accurate values for ranking the players.
Within this same screen for modifying the Ranking Profiles are other tools for changing how your rankings are set up compared to the Auto setting. This includes Weekly Weights, where you can modify the value given to each week, maybe putting more emphasis on drafting individuals who are expected to score more during playoff weeks than during your fantasy regular season. You can Edit Players expected scoring and upside if you think that the FBG rankings are different than you believe they should be. You can modify the Projections Used to include only some of the people on the FBG staff who put in their rankings for each player versus all of them. You can also modify Position Adjustments to increase or decrease where the value is applied for a given position. You also can Edit VBD Baselines, although it is discouraged on the screen.
Another Pro with the FBG DD app is that it can be used across all your leagues without changing anything. You create your various drafts, import the league settings and scoring, and DD does the rest. It will incorporate the player projections and give you who they believe you should draft based on their years of experience. FBG have been around for quite some time and have built a reputation of providing quality fantasy football drafting resources, so their expertise should also be considered as a huge plus when looking at draft software.
Another plus is FBG screen. Their online DD app puts a ton of information at your fingertips. From the different values like Rank, ADP, Points, Upside, Position Rank, and VBD, to clicking on a given player to find tons of information right in front of you, this app really puts you in the driver’s seat when it comes to having timely, quality information at your fingertips during your draft.
There are numerous other things that are to be liked about the application that FBG makes available in DD, but these are the most important ones based on my experience drafting in fantasy football over the past 30+ years. On their site you can find a ton of articles, cheat sheets, etc. that can help you gain an edge over the competition. They also provide Strength-of-Schedule tables for determining which players are going to be most valuable during your league playoffs.
The Cons that I would associate with FBG DD app are minimal. I had to look hard to determine anything I did not like about the drafting app. About the only thing I can say is that it can be a little costly. Especially if you are using it for only one league/team. If you are using it for multiple leagues, it is certainly more cost effective since you will be potentially winning more leagues and the price per league will go down. In addition, there are other features that may be included based on the type of subscription you purchase. There is Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) information for use in finding the right lineups for Daily on-line games outside your normal leagues. There are options for including Dynasty and IDP league information as well as a subscriber contest. However, many of these items come at an additional cost. So, while this is an excellent provider of Fantasy Football information, draft software, DFS insights, etc., the price you pay could be considered high, especially if you are only playing one or two leagues.
